Kristen Leverton Helbert, Outreach Director for Christian Community, is coauthor of Fifty Strategies for Outreach to Teenagers and is at work on a new publication on young adult ministry. Kristen uses her marketing knowledge to further the outreach of congregations and also serves as the Director for our companion organization, New Life Ministries.

Steve Clapp, Christian Community's President, is the author or coauthor of over thirty books on congregational life. He specializes in issues of hospitality, stewardship, and religion and sexuality. In addition to overseeing Christian Community's many projects, he leads workshops and speaks at selected events.

Stacey Sellers, Christian Community’s Creative Director, helps us design creative approaches to our publications and our projects. She is the codirector of the Cleveland Teenagers, Religion, and Sexuality Project. She is also coauthoring two new publications with Steve Clapp: The Teen To Teen Network and What’s Religion Got to Do With it?

Angela Zizak, Christian Community's Resource Director, began doing sociological research and writing grant proposals while an undergraduate. She is currently working on a new resource on religion and sexuality focused on the needs of young women and working on our GLBT project. Angela also does grant research for us.

Holly Sprunger, Christian Community’s Editorial Director, was a cum laude graduate of Ohio State University and worked as an editor with a legal publishing company before joining our staff. In addition to editing our publications, she is currently involved in writing a new resource to better prepare teens for marriage and parenting.

Fred Bernhard, Christian Community’s Workshop and Consultation Specialist, had years of successful ministry in the local church and developed important concepts for hospitality and congregational growth. The coauthor of three books on hospitality, he specializes in workshops on that theme for congregations and for denominational judicatories.

Tom Rieke directs The Network for Charitable Giving, which is an organization that seeks to help congregations and judicatories improve their practices of stewardship and better understand the potential of planned giving. He was for many years in charge of stewardship for the Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church.

Jan Fairchild, Christian Community’s GLBT Concerns Coordinator, has served as a local church pastor and coauthored the book Caring Like Jesus: The Matthew 18 Project. Jan has a passion for justice for all persons, including those of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender orientation. She also understands the fear and anxieties that surround sexuality issues in congregations and strives to work compassionately for change.

Debra W. Haffner directs our companion organization the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice, and Healing. She is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister and was for many years the chief executive officer of SIECUS, the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States. Debra is the author of three guides for congregations on sexuality as well as two award winning books for parents. From Diapers to Dating: A Parent's Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Children and Beyond the Big Talk: Every Parent's Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Teens.

Kate Ott is Associate Director of the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice and Healing. She holds a doctorate in Christian Social Ethics from Union Theological Seminary.
She has over 10 years of church-related experience in campus ministry, youth ministry and Christian education programs. She conducts workshops for local churches as well as national denominational committees and is at work on a book titled, Saying No is Not Enough: Re-thinking Adolescent Sexual Ethics.
